This small back country mountain hut is prefabricated off-site utilizing cross laminated timber (CLT) and precast concrete footings. The kit of parts can be easily hauled into the remote site and assembled in days with minimal skill and tools. A water catchment system and small 6 panel solar array provides basic utilities to the remote site, allowing for extended stays. The exterior is clad patinated steel providing a low maintenance exterior finish and wildfire protection. The wood lined interior provides the space with warmth and soothing scent, while a single high-efficiency wood burning stove provides heat. The hut has 2 built-in bunks overlooking the mountains beyond through a large fixed opening, while operable side windows provide passive ventilation. A small kitchenette and minimal bathroom allow the functionality of home. A small covered sitting porch provides a great place to star-gaze.
